This is E-bike trip we made earlier in the year, but it could be a good one even for the colder days of December. However, with snow on the ground we would not recommend this one. Especially the part illustrated on the title picture might be difficult to navigate, it was tricky even in September.
We started at a tiny side street parking lot in Poděbrady. You will probably not have a chance to have a beer at point 2 this time of the year (or see a cute dog on the table – see picture below). At point 3 you may contemplate about what would happen if the Clan of Slavníkovci would not be brutally eliminated from the Czech history in the year 995.
From 4 to 5 you will ride the bike path along the highway, from 5 to 6 you will be on the regular road. At 6 you turn onto the forest road and after 7 you will follow Labe all the way to Kolín. At point 12 you will use an interesting structure to cross the railroad and you will have a chance to visit the Kolín square with several options for refreshments. You can check the church of St. Bartoloměj which will be on your left side after leaving the square.
After joining the path along the other side of Labe at point 14, your adventure will start. The path in stretch between 15 and 16 is basically not visible and you have to just guess where it is. However, it is rideable and there are no pedestrians on this very narrow path. At point 18 (Oseček) is a chance to cross Labe (if the boat is in business) back onto the road you were using on the way to Kolín and return to Poděbrady the same way you rode earlier. However, after this point you should have no problem on this E-bike trip riding all the way to Nymburk and back to Poděbrady – the path may be a little bumpy but no more surprises awaits you.
