El Paso, Mexico – Brdy

El Paso

Well, we did not go to another continent to visit El Paso, it is actually “trampská osada” (tramp settlement) from the 1920ies, formed by three friends in the place of abandoned quarry which was ruined by the water eruption forming a tiny lake in the bottom of the quarry. The lake is still there together with five loghouses surrounding it. And it is in Brdy, which we thought that we know back and forth, since we visited it so many times – just search in our posts for “Brdy”… And we discovered it by looking for the geocache… Yes, you can easily miss it since it is so well hidden in this little crater.

Start point was at the parking lot close to the castle and we planned the ride to be at our favorite lunch place “U Dernerů” at the right time for a stop. After that stop we went deep down to 11 only to have a hard time to go uphill to El Paso at point 13. But it was definitely worth it. Biking around El Paso is a little challenging, so be aware. And because it was a weekend, the red tourist mark path was very busy, so we tried alternative 17 to 20… This is a little challenging path and we had to walk the bike for a short stretch – you will not miss that part!
