This is the ideal ride for starting your season when you just want to check whether your bike will still work. We did this one a long time ago (about 10 years ago) and now we realized that the bike path had a lot of improvements – new surface in many places and new bridges which make biking a lot better.
As the parking in Podebrady is quite tricky, we recommend starting at the space before the bridge (where it is free of charge). If you will follow us here, let us know whether the restaurant at point 6 is open. When we visited it, it was closed, even though the map was showing it as open. And, of course, do not forget to visit Libice nad Cidlinou, where you can find the memorial to the year 995 massacre of the Slavnikovec dynasty by Premyslids. It would make you think how everything could have been different if this “little skirmish” ended up with different ending.
