We like the area around Zruč nad Sázavou and the weather was nice. So this time we started at the parking lot of the Muzeum Ostrov lidových krojů. Muzeum was closed, so we cannot comment on the exhibition, but parking there is very convenient. The first discovery was the fact that path from 3 to 6 is a nightmare. You will hardly see where to go and at one spot you have to push through the fallen tree. So, if you want to avoid the frustration, use the asphalt road to point 7.
The next discovery was the distillery Agnes at point 8 (Zelená Bohdaneč), where you definitely should stop for a quick visit. You don’t even have to buy any product, you can just taste something from the plethora of locally made stuff. And the ice cream is superb! Mrs Dana Podlešáková, who is operating this establishment will tell you everything you need to know about this shop.
Discovery number 3 is the view tower Bohdanka at point 9 with couple of art pieces around it. At point 12 you may be confused since the path to the left seems like not rideable. However, there is more reasonable connection to green tourist mark about 50 meters farther.
The lake Katlov at 15 is a discovery number 4. The Katlov lake is operated by the famous daredevil and fisherman Jakub Vágner, holder of several world records in fishing. If you want to fish here, you have to pay Kč 1200 per day. The name Katlov is based on the fact that the emperor’s executioner (kat) had right to fish (lovit) here.
A point 16 you should consider walking your bike uphill – it is really really steep bumpy ride. At 21 you can follow the road and turn left to return to the ride, or follow the green mark.
At point 25 you may try to follow the red tourist mark to point 28, but we cannot comment on that part since we did not venture through this part. If you try it, please, let us know whether it is rideable. Another discovery was the downhill stretch from 26, where we broke our speed record. You probably should not even try this since it may be a little dangerous, but the road was absolutely flawless…
29 to 30 was a busy road, so at 30 we chose the not very used forest road, which was in parts a little tricky to navigate. So, you can avoid this stretch and stay on the road all the way to the parking at Ostrov.
