Dubá, Kokořínsko

A beautiful ride through the sandstone formations. If you start your loop in the town of Dubá, then you will have to ride a little bit on the pretty busy road 260. If you want to avoid this, you can park in points 2, 3, or 4. The ride from 4 to 10 is a typical forest road leading you on the top of sandstone range. The part that you should NOT ride, but just walk, is from 5 to 7. The marking clearly shows that you should not even think about biking this part. We recommend to park your bike around point 5 (and lock it, somebody may borrow your bike if you are not around), and walk along the edge of a sandstone cliff without it. You will clearly understand why we recommended it. After you come back, you can ride from 5 to 7 through point 13.

The next point where you should stop is number 8. There you will learn about the life of the greatest Czech genius, Jára Cimrman. (We were following in his footsteps in another ride earlier.) And point 8 actually may be the point where he died. So pay a little respect to this enormous personality, who, by the way was running in the first direct election for the office of the president of the Czech Republic in 2013. And he did not win only by technicality – nobody could prove that he is still alive. And speaking about presidents, you should definitely watch the video of another Czech president.

The part from 12 to 13 is pretty narrow, but perfectly rideable. And passing through it will allow you to ride the stretch from 13 to 4 once more in the opposite direction. At point 4 you will turn left and go through the very picturesque village Lhota. So do not go fast even though it is nice downhill ride, but slow down and enjoy the views.
