Ride along (sometimes very close to) the river Lužnice with the visit to the town of Soběslav and Tábor. We started this loop ride on the street “Na Černé” in Planá nad Lužnicí where you can find good parking spots along the road everywhere. Our main reason for starting there was to visit our friends, but you can start the loop anywhere from the main square in Tábor to the square in Soběslav.
Lužnice is a river very popular for floating down on canoes, kayaks, or other boats of any kind, especially in the summer months. We did the floating many times in the past, but this time we decided to follow it on our bikes. Even though it was Saturday, we did not meet too many bikers which made the ride more pleasant. You will be crossing the river several times, always on a different type of bridge – the most interesting being the hanging bridge at point 20. A temporary bridge in Planá sounds interesting if you ride on it – but you should not ride it if there are any pedestrians on it. On the way back after point 16, you may actually walk under it if you don’t want to ride around the construction site.
Several stretches of this ride go on a very narrow path (2 to 3, 6 to 7, 11 to 12) and you should pay attention to sticking stones, roots, and bikers going in the opposite direction. It would be quite easy to end up swimming instead of riding – however, these were the most enjoyable parts of the ride. And you should not miss the fireman water reservoir in Roudná (point 19), where the hundreds of Water Lilies were in full bloom.
