This time we started in the parking lot in Strašice because we were picking another E-bike for our friend visiting from the America. And it is not a bad idea to start from there since our usual parking at the entrance to CHKO can be pretty crowded. Besides, if you need to rent the bike, the rental place is just across the street from there. Cyklo Brdy will rent you a bike of your dreams right there. The trip will take you to the top of Brdy, next to the “dopadová plocha” (landing area) Tok (2), the place which served as target for the army exercises back in the previous regime – and from where not all unexploded ammunition was eliminated. (If you stay on the bike path, you will be totally safe.)
Then you will enjoy a long ride downhill to Láz with the possible quick stop at point 3 to get the peek at the lake supplying the area with drinking water – so no swimming, please. In Láz you may consider stopping for a beer or Kofola, but if you continue to point 5 in Nepomuk, you can meet a lot of biking enthusiasts in the Cykloklub Brdy Nepál where you can enjoy excellent dršťková (tripe soup) and beer.
The next points of interest are “red quarry” at point 7 and ancient oak at point 8. There you can also look for the geocache masking itself as a birdhouse.
