Again, our favorite “Český Les”. The village Železná, which sits on the Czechia – Germany border is a convenient starting point for several E-bike trips. Accommodation in the resort Český Les can be strongly recommended. And as any place close to the German border it is flooded by plastic junk of garden gnomes (see the picture), very popular in Germany. Surprisingly they had even stone and steel creations – actually not bad at all.
This time we went to the loop south of there with the stop for lunch at Bělá nad Radbuzou. The not very attractively looking restaurant Radbuza actually provided very tasty meals and drinks. So, do not be distracted by looks of the entrance, check the inside. The only alternative for refreshment is restaurant Pleš on top of Pleš (17), where you may need a little break after long ride uphill from 16.
There are no problematic parts of this ride, so any bike would be fine on this one. At point 9 you should stop at the memorial and read about the last American soldiers fallen during the last days of the WWII and about the operation “Cowboy” saving a herd of Lipizzaner horses from being eaten by approaching hungry Russian soldiers.
It may look tempting to cut from 11 to 13 by following the yellow sign, but for some reason you would have to cross the electric fence and go through the free range animal pasture. So we rather followed the regular road to point 13.
