If you want to see the heaviest item ever moved, you have to visit the town of Starý Most. The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Most is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records for its move for over 800 m from its original location in 1975 to where it sits now. It moved at the speed of 2.5 cm per minute on wheels to escape destruction of the town Most under which the large deposit of coal was found. Nowadays the former mine is filled with crystal clear water and dumping sites are overgrown with young vegetation. The only reminder that there was a town in the place of the lake is the large sign MOST in the middle of the water.
Our ride will take you twice around the lake to give you a perspective how extensive was the mining project and how the nature can heal itself. If you would ride here just after a heavy rain (as we did), we recommend shortcut 2 to 5 on the left side of the lake Venuše. The 2 to 3 stretch can be very muddy. Riding from 5 to 6 will give you a nice view of the castle Hněvín on the top of the hill above the lake. You can visit that place for a nice dinner afterwards.
