Nižbor

Nižbor became one of our favorite ride starting points. Not only because the area around Berounka is magical and full of bike routes, but also because we found an ideal spot for regaining our strength after a long trip – a restaurant Zastávka Nižbor. This establishment has the atmosphere of the beginning of the last century. It used to be an abandoned railroad structure which was saved from destruction by Mr Tomáš Hanák (aka Czech Paul Newman). The story of this place is available on internet.

The first ride from here started on the blue tourist mark, which at the point 5 turned into red mark. This part may be a little tricky after a rainy days, when you can encounter quite a bit of mud. Similar situation may be between points 10 and 14. But in the rainy days you can just follow marked bike roads (which we are usually avoiding when there is an alternative going through the woods).

A good point to have a Kofola, or something else, is at the village Žilina. Look on the right hand side just after crossing the road in the middle of the village. Here you can decide to go directly to point 12, if the ride from 2 to 5 was really muddy. After point 16 we could not avoid the regular road, which may unfortunately be a little busy.

https://en.mapy.cz/s/joganezoro, 37 km, 586 m elevation gain. To see this ride in context, check our interactive maps.
