The best starting point for this trip we found at the brewery/hotel Cvikov. We stayed there and we can recommend their beer wholeheartedly. The ride will lead you through the typical Lužické hory (Lusatian mountains) countryside with far-reaching vistas intermingled with deep forests.
Between point 3 and 5 you will see the best example of the fortification built before the second world war which was never used for its original purpose due to the so called Munich agreement. This agreement gave a big chunk of the Czechoslovakia to Hitler’s Germany to satisfy his needs for expansion and “prevent the world war”. How it worked is a well known history… The situation in Ukraine right now seems very similar to what happened then. However back in 1938 nobody came to help Czechoslovakia and it was quickly swallowed by Hitler.
The ride was quite smooth, with the exception of the section between 8 and 9, where the path is very rough. The piece of 11 to 12 is super steep uphill stretch, but after that it is downhill ride almost all the way back to the brewery.
