Kytín is a convenient starting point for exploring Brdy mountain range. The best parking you will find close to the local brewery (hint, hint…). We have blogged about out rides in Brdy many times, you can see some earlier blogs here, here, here, or here…
This time we wanted to visit Dobříš, the town famous for its baroque castle which was reconstructed to the present form by Colloredo-Mansfeld in 18th century. During communist Czechoslovakia it was used as “house of writers” – place where you could stay if you were writhing your book – obviously only book which would conform to the taste of the ruling party. In 1998 it came back to the original owners.
If you don’t want to go through the town, you can turn right when you will see the fence of the game reserve turning right as well. Follow the fence and you will join the map at point 5. This game reserve “Aglaia” is owned by the family of Colloredo-Mansfeld, one of the most famous noble families of Czechia. Their properties were nationalized in 1945, but after 1990, they got some of their properties back.
Recommended stops on this E-bike trip you will find at point 8 – restaurant “U Dernerů Na Čunčí” with their excellend food selection, or at point 9 – bakery Jarolímek. Just befor the end of your trip do not miss a visit to point 10. Here you will find Poutníkův trůn – Kytínská spirála (Traveller’s throne – Kytín’s spiral) – you can ponder what it is, why it is here and who built it…
We were lucky to visit Kytín in the last September when local firemen organization held their celebratory event and we could buy their T-shirts…

We usually go the Brdy on the ridge. That means to Dobrichovice by train, then to Cernolice by bus(possible by electro-rise😄) and to the end of the Brdy to Maly Chlumec. Then turn to the right direction Prague. Stop or finish in Revnice(brewery) or to go to Prague. From Cernolice the track along the plane or from the hill. To Prague cca 80 km but comfortably. You go round many interesting places. I forgot the lunch by Derner pub. Excellent. Do not miss it 😄.
