Prokopské and Dalejské údolí

We have described a similar ride earlier, but this time we discovered Dalejské údolí, which we missed earlier. And this was an unforgivable omission. Prokopské údolí is very well known and very intensely frequented by tourist in all seasons. Dalejské údolí is like a forgotten but more interesting sibling.

You can start at the parking lot of Hornbach in Chuchle and ride under Barrandov where you should not miss a visit to abandoned swimming pool nowadays used by sprayers of all ages. Professor Barrande found here (and further in  Prokopské and Dalejské údoli) a treasure trove of fossilized creatures. Therefore this stone formation is now carrying name of the professor Barrande.

Up to the point 4 theride is very easy, but from 4 to 8 you should pay a little more attention as the path can be a little more challenging. From 11 to 12 you will be on a regular road, so the danger will be the regular traffic. After 12 to 13 you will be riding through the modern blocks of flats of the housing estate Lužiny, where the obstacles may be pedestrians and children. From 14 to 15 the path is very steep downhill and if you see pedestrians coming up against you, maybe a prudent solution would be to walk your bike.

An interesting stop may be the memorial to Vlasov army help during the Prague 1945 uprising at point 11 in Řeporyje. As this historical event is still quite controversial, the memorial is super small tank on a tall pedestal / so it may be hard to find. So look around and you may even ask the locals to point you to the right location. The author of the memorial is probably David Černý, who did not either admit or deny his involvement.
