Maybe this was the last warm day of this fall. We saw the red leaves climbing the rocks of Barrandov and decided to explore this area closer. You can find convenient parking in front of the Hornbach store.
The autumn colors during the whole ride were incredible. Barrandovské skály (Barrandov rocks) are world famous for showing a plethora of geological features and also for being a source of petrified fauna and flora (trilobites).
The Barrandov quarter is actually a very young part of Prague. It was built in 1920’s from scratch by Václav Havel, the father of our famous Czech president Václav Havel. Not many people in the world can say that they were presidents of two different countries, except President Havel. Barrandov is not only a luxury living quarter, but it is also the center of the Czechoslovak film industry.
The ride was smooth without the need of any special comments. However, points 2 and 4 are worth the little side trips. Point 2 is a wall painting gallery in the place of a dilapidated swimming pool, and point 4 is a natural lake in the former quarry in Prokopské údolí. Point 6 is the location of brewery Prokopák which has a very good restaurant. After point 12 you may come across freely roaming goats. Who knows…
