If you liked biking with us in Šumava, you may enjoy E-bike trip in Novohradské Hory even better. There were no people! During two days of our biking around we did not meet any bicyclists. We found a base in Zevlův Mlýn where you can find accomodation, restaurant, beer spa, and anything you can wish for.
Our E-bike ride started in Nové Hrady, small town with a great history, nice castle and town square. If you would be looking for a place to eat, cellar of the town hall is strongly recommended. If you show them that you learned about their culinary skills from our blog, they will give you 10% discount. And you should taste whatever they have on the menu “Buquoy” style – as they explain, counts Bouqoy had a great inclination to good food.
From point 3 to 4 you should go straight down as at this moment the marked route is being reconstructed and is not driveable. After that you will follow a red tourist mark through Terčino údolí. At the point of the ruin of Modrý dům you turn right and after a little stretch of tricky riding you will be rewarded by the view of the unexpected waterfall coming out of the middle of the rock. Yes, it is man-made waterfall – again, count Buquoy planned this valley as a playground for his wife Terezie – and the waterfall was built in 1817.
After passing through Horní Stropnice and visiting stone structure at 11 and bell tower at 12, you will ride through various versions of forest for the next 20 km. Most interesting part of the ride is starting at point 15, where you will enter the oldest natural preserve in central Europe founded by Jiří František August Buquoy in 1838.

Byl jsem tam, ale je to tak dávno, že oceňuji připomenutí a fotky, protože ty moje mi nějak zmizely😀. Tak dík a hodně km v předčasném jaru. J.
