Boskovice Loops

We were extremely lucky with our location choice. On May 1, parts of the bike trails were closed for the traditional running event. However, we came later in the afternoon when they were just starting to open them back. So if you plan this ride, remember May 1 is tricky. Another lucky coincidence was Velorex reunion in Boskovice. We have never seen so many of those unique vehicles at one spot. And you may even think that these “cars” were the inspiration for the design of the Aptera vehicle by our friend Steve Fambro.

We planned riding around Boskovice for two days, so we checked for you two different routes. You can, of course, combine them, but it will give you more than 50 km with elevation gain over 1000 m.

As the starting point we have chosen parking lot of the hotel Pod Zámkem, where we were staying, but it seems that you can use that as well for no charge. The north loop will lead you through the mixed forests around the water reservoir Boskovice. At point 2 you should stop and look for a dromedaries. Well, you don’t see too many of those in Czech Republic. And if you have time you can visit “Western Town Boskovice”.

There are no difficult stretches with three short rides on the regular roads. Very enjoyable riding we consider 8 to 10 if there are no pedestrians. After 10 you will have a little uphill fight, so pay attention to stony ground.

The south loop repeats the nice ride on blue tourist mark from 3 to 7 with a lot of “artistic” creations along the path. But then you will have to climb a long hill on the way to 8. After 8 your ride will be a little tricky, for sure you will be glad that you have mountain bike. After you pass 9, it will be smooth sailing back to your starting point. You will be passing through forests as well as through the large meadows and places where the forest fires cleared the space for your viewing enjoyment.
